About LSM

We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to developing incredible individuals through the gift of art.  Unlike touring drum corps, our ensembles rehearse and perform primarily on weekends.  This allows our members to spend more time with their families and focus on their continuing education or careers.  Many of our programs compete in local, regional, and national events sponsored by the Michigan Color Guard Circuit, the Michigan Alliance for Performing Arts, and Winter Guard International.

In addition to competitions, LSM’s programs are known to perform for the community in local parades, standstill/benefit concerts, and exhibition performances.

LSM Performing Arts Inc. was originally founded in 1996 as a rudimental drumline.  Over time, the organization grew and added the necessary elements to become a drum and bugle corps.  LSM made its competitive debut at the Drum Corps Associates World Championships in September of 2005.  In 2015, LSM was transformed into a competitive winds program.  This allowed for more flexible instrumentation and made our program much more accessible to young performers.  Last winter, LSM Winds earned won the WGI Winds Independent A World Championship!

In 2019, we welcomed m.Pure Winter Guard to the LSM family.  m.Pure had an incredible first season, and were the silver medalists at the WGI Flint Regional!  Rebranded as The Union Winter Guard in a strategic partnership with the Southgate Band Programs, our winter guard program will be back in 2023 bigger and better than ever!

We are thrilled to have you play a major part in making history with our organization!
